Ducks

Mema and Grandpa left us on Saturday, and we are really sad about it all.  It is so nice to actually be able to see family while we are living in Utah.  I get lonely with Tim being so busy, so it is nice to have some adult interaction during the day.  I love watching Carter bond with his grandparents, and I know he misses them dearly.  (Kenai is also super sad about it).  Before we had to take them to the airport, we took advantage of the beautiful sunny day to take some pictures.  Imagine, trying to get Dad to behave and Carter to look at the camera all in the same moment.  Well, it was fun anyways, and Carter had a blast looking at the Ducks!!  We miss you guys like crazy, hurry back!!!

Are we Sleepy Yet?

Last night Carter and I went to Sleep Study number 3.  It was just as miserable as all the previous ones.  This time he was actually scared and refused to let go of my hand for 2 hours.   So, there I stood at the side of his crib for 2 hours, praying that he would just fall fast asleep.  He refused to sleep on his tummy because of all the wires, which really put a damper on things because this is how most of his sleep is at home.  Only about 30 minutes last night were on his tummy.  He actually spent 45 minutes sitting up in bed during the middle of the night, falling asleep a few times still sitting up.  He woke at 5:00 am, at which time they said we could go because it did not look like he was going to go back down, and that they did get 3-4 hours of him sleeping, which should be enough.  The tech said Carter had a lot of episodes during his sleep, which is really bad.  Lots of episodes were what caused us to have the Mandibular Distraction...  Tell me our two months of Hell last fall did some good.  So now we will wait for the results.  The tech said it usually takes about 3 weeks to to get the results, but she doubted it would take that long for Carters.  I get it, just like last time.  If it is a bad test, they must bump it up to the top to get read faster.  Last time we heard from Dr. Muntz within a week.  So, there you have it: Carter slept for about 3 hours, I slept for about 30 minutes, we came home and napped for 4 hours, and we are both going back to bed now.  Sweet dreams my little man!!

Cool new blanket Carter got from the hospital!

Scout must go everywhere!

Carter tried to pick at the ones on his head, so they had to mummify him.

All Done!!  (Yet still very weary...)

Safe and sound in the car, he will now smile!

Maybe someday...

Maybe someday my Husband will take me to Panama so we don't have to continue playing dress up and pretending with Mom and Dad's hats...

Growing too Fast

I know they say your kids grow up fast, but I feel like Carter might be a little young for shaving Grandpa.  The look of fear in his face comes from the fact that Grandpa is was putting the razor to his face, and Carter was thinking he would be next!  Do not fear little man, Grandpa stopped at the gel, but it was pretty cute.  The two of them made the picture of the day.  Click HERE to check it out!

Baby Animals

Today we took Carter to see Baby Animals.  It was so much fun!  It was like going to a huge petting zoo.  Tim and I had the most fun, seeing that Carter did not want to have any thing to do with the animals getting close to him.
This past week Carter has really grown up.  I can not believe my baby is now talking, running, and just being a ham all day long.  He is getting really good at repeating words, and saying everything.  You ask him if he wants to take a bath and he says "Bath" and books it up the stairs to the bathroom.  Today I walked into Tim's room with him and Carter said "Hi Dad".  Really???  It kind of makes me sad to know he is not a baby anymore, but I am so proud of him.
You might have noticed my blogging and Pictures of the Day kind of lagging lately.  There is a good reason for it: I fried my computer!  Yep, I sent a shock through it, and it fried the motherboard.  Awesome.  So, Tim and I are deciding how much money we can put into it to fix it.  In the mean time, I have to use Tim's computer which works at turtle speed compared to my Beast!  Please be patient with me my loyal blog readers, as soon as the computer is back up and running, we will be on our way again.

Easter 2010

Since we were out hiking on Easter Sunday, we decided to celebrate it on Monday.  The Easter Bunny came to our house and set out eggs for Carter to find.  He got to the first egg and immediately opened it up.  The game was then over because he just wanted to eat everything inside. It took a lot of encouragement to even pay attention to the other eggs.  He makes me laugh!  Happy Easter little man, I hope you enjoyed it!

AMAZING Weekend!!

For the long weekend, we decided to take off to Southern Utah to do some major hiking!  It was amazing, beautiful, and just nice to hang out with my boys all weekend. Here is a review of the weekend.  WARNING: It was a 1000 photo 3 days (well, actually just 998), so prepare yourself for photo overload!

Day 1
Buckskin Gulch
This hike was amazing!!  National Geographic ranks it one of the Top 10 hikes in the world.  Now, Tim and I have not had the opportunity to hike all over the world, but it was definitely one of our top hikes of all time.  The majority of the hike is through slot canyons.  In some spots the canyon get so tight, Tim had a hard time getting through with Carter on his back.  We hiked back for about 5 miles.  Only later did we find out that the last canyon went on for 20 miles!  No wonder we could never find the exit!  There were a few obstacles where we had to help Kenai up, but all it all it was wonderful fun for everyone!  There were also some cool petroglyphs on the canyon walls.  It was fun pretending to figure out the story they were telling.  I would recommend this hike to anyone and everyone, it was AMAZING!!!  Make sure to check the weather report, because it would be bad news if you were hiking when a flash flood decided to come around!

Toadstool Hoodoos

Toadstool Hoodoos was more of a relaxing hike after Buckskin Gulch.  It was only about 2 miles round trip, but really had some neat things to see.  Hoodoos are always fun to look at.  I always wonder if that rock is going to fall...

Day 2
Perry Lodge
We stayed in Kanab, Utah to rest up between our hikes.  The Hotel we stayed at was called Perry Lodge AKA "Utah's Little Hollywood".  A lot of old western movies were filmed out in this part of the country, and the stars would stay at this hotel during the filming.  I thought it was very fitting for Carter to be staying at the same place that John Wayne once stayed at.  The OR staff in Missouri would be very proud of us!!

The Wave
The reason we were interested in hiking in Southern Utah was because of this hike right here.  I have seen pictures of the Wave, and knew I wanted to go there!  It did not disappoint.  They only allow 20 people a day into the Wave, and there is really no trail to it, so people can not sneak into it.  At the beginning of the hike, we started talking to a man about his plans for the day.  Turns out he was headed up to the wave also, so we ended up hiking the whole way with him.  Now the best part of the story: he is a professional photographer!!!  Yeah, it was amazing talking to him about photos and all the different settings on my camera.    He gave me some really good pointers that I am excited to try out.  Plus, he was so willing to take some family photo's for us along the way with my camera.  Ahh, I am still in heaven thinking about it.  If you want to check out some of his pictures and website, click HERE.  Ok, back to the hike.  It was a round trip of 5 miles, not easy ones mind you, through sand and rocks.  But, in the end, it was so worth it!!!  We actually hiked into Arizona, so it was Carter's first trip to that state.  Words can not express this amazing sight that we got to see.  It was a good reminder of beauty only God could create.

After the wave, we packed up and headed home.  We got home about 11:00pm on Sunday night.  It was such a wonderful weekend.  We saw some spectacular sights and had a great time just hanging out as a family.  Hope you enjoy the photos!

15 Month Check Up

We took Carter in for his 15 month check up last week, so here are his stats:
Weight: 18 pounds 14 ounces
Length: 29.8 inches
Head: 18.54 inches
For his weight, he is still not on the growth chart, but he is gaining weight, so that is positive.  However, if you look at his BMI he is just skimming the chart, so maybe next time he will be touching it!  He is doing great for all the mile stones he should be reaching.  We have been concerned about possible acid reflux, so we started him on Protonix.  We hope that if that is his problem, then we might see an increase in his eating.  He has started to try different foods, but still does not eat very much (as you can see he likes to put the food in all different places but his mouth).  One day, one day...
