Issues

I have major issues.  I love to take pictures!!!  We just went on a short walk to the park today, and I ended up with 150 pictures.  Oh, and I love so many of them!!!  So, I will share a few with you.  Oh, yes, they all are of Carter!  But, I love them!

Cone of Shame

Last week Tim took Kenai out skiing with him.  At some point during the descent, her paw got stuck under his ski, and was cut pretty bad.  Tim took her into Salt Lake, and went to the ER at the hospital he is doing his rotation at.  He ended up putting Dermabond (Glue used instead of sutures) on the wound and it looked to be doing really well.  We kept it wrapped up for a few days, but she was just itching to get out of the bandage.  So, we took it off because we were very pleased with her healing.  However, she decided to lick and lick and lick the wound.  And, before we knew it, she had licked all the Dermabond off!  So, for the past few days we have been keeping a close eye on it, and hoping that it would start to heal up on it's own.  Today we decided she should probably be seen because it looked like it had opened up again.
So off to the Vet we went.  He is such an awesome guy, and really likes to talk to Tim about medical stuff.  He recommend that we put some sutures in it to keep it closed.  That was fine with us, but she would have to be put under to do such a thing. The Vet asked Tim if he would like to do it, as a learning experience, and as a way to save us money.  Yeah, so Tim got to suture Kenai up, had a great teacher take him step by step through it, plus we only had to pay for the supplies!!!  Wow, what a cool Vet!!!!  Tim did a great job, and took really good care of his Baby Girl.  Kenai was great, and just loved everyone at the office.  She is resting peacefully now, and I am sure she is looking forward to breakfast in the morning.  (She has to wear the Cone of Shame till the sutures come out so she does not lick them!)

Do I look Older?

On Friday I turned 27!  I feel so old!!!!  Carter and I hung out all day waiting for Tim to come home.  I then dropped Carter off at Steve and Kathy's so Tim and I could go out to dinner.  This was the first time that we have ever done such a thing, and I loved it!!  I knew Carter was in good hands at the Hobbs home, so it put me at ease.  (Thank you so much you guys, it was wonderful to go out to eat with out Carter).  We went to an excellent restaurant and got spoiled with great steak and crab.  Yummy!!!!  We talked a lot about Carter over dinner, I mean really, what else do we have to talk about????  Kathy said Carter didn't even cry, so we are really proud of him.  Tim got me some presents for my camera, which I am already putting to go use.  I loved all the phone calls from loved ones (I am still waiting for your call Jeremy...)  Thanks for the great day everyone!!  XOXO

Tired

Is it bed time yet?

Mill Creek Canyon

For Valentine's Day, we headed out to Mill Creek Canyon for a family hike.  It was a beautiful day!  Kenai had a blast playing in the deep snow and Carter enjoyed riding on his Daddy's back once again.  It was a 300+ photo day, so that was an exhausting task going through them when we got home.  Hope you all had a great lover's day!!!  XOXO

Tonight Carter totally surprised us by being able to suck out of a straw!  What a stud, it is amazing what you can do when you finally have a little suction!!!

And Finally We Walk!!

Yep, it is true, my little man is officially walking.  Still lots of crawling, but he is on his way to being a full time walker.  Finally!!!  Yeah!!!!

Adventures

Today Carter and I headed into the hospital this morning for our check-up with Dr. Muntz.  Here is the run down of what we talked about:
~ The palate looks all healed, no hole to be seen!
~ I expressed concerns about his breathing while sleeping might not be the best anymore.  We have to do another sleep study (Oh yeah, you know I love 'em!!)
~ Had Carter's hearing tested.  Passed with flying colors, and the tubes are working well.
~ Talked about Carter's lack of eating.  Dr.Muntz said this is very abnormal for a cleft baby to do this, they usually go to town with their food when they get the palate fixed.  So, continue to see the eating specialist, we are also going to sign up for a class at the hospital that has something to do with eating problems.  If nothing works, we will probably have to see a Endocrinologist to make sure all his hormones are intact and working well.  And, worst case scenario, if Carter completely stops eating on me, gets dehydrated, all that good stuff, he threated a feeding tube.  Yes, after almost 14 months, the possibility of Carter having to have a feeding tube is still lingering.  Eat my son, I know you can do it!!  (Don't worry, this is very worst case, and Carter still likes to eat his Boost everyday, so that should keep him from loosing weight.)
~ Follow up: Dr. Muntz will call us with the results of the Sleep Study and we will go from there.  I told him to make sure to call me with happy news after this sleep study.
So, there you have it.  That was our exciting day at the hospital.  Timmy is working the night shift tonight, so it is just me and the two little ones.  He should be home early in the morning, and then has 3 days to spend with us!!!

Oh Boy, that was a BIG sneeze!

Hiking Utah Style

Today we took Carter and Kenai out on a hike up some Canyon here in Utah (by Park City).  It was a great day, tons of snow, and lots of pictures.  Carter loves hiking and just looks around the whole time.  Kenai whines when we stop to take a break, she just wants to keep moving!  When then headed up to Park City for dinner and Pizza and Noodle Company.  Yummmy!!  When we got home we sat down to get Carter ready for bed.  After the teeth were brushed, jammies on, milk drunk, Carter proceeded to throw up all over me.  And again, and again.  We are exhausted, and are hoping that we actually get some sleep tonight.  So very thankful that Carter did not puke in the restaurant, or better yet, in the pack during our hike!!  Oh, that probably would have made the picture of the day!!  Love you sweet Carter, feel better!
