Sweet Potato

Carter got his first bite of real food today. Well, I guess you can call pureed sweet potatoes real food if you are a baby. Anyways, we had not started him on any food up to this point because the Children's Hospital said he still needs to drink lots and lots of milk to gain weight. So, we basically just gave him the sweet potatoes so he could get used to eating off a spoon and tasting other things besides milk. He really loved it. I am not actually sure if any really went down to his tummy, but it was fun and messy. The worst however, was when his mouth was completely full (he was storing it), and it started coming out his nose. He then proceeded to have a sneezing fit and sprayed sweet potatoes every where for the next 5 minutes. What a cool party trick Carter!!

Sit

I woke up with a mission today: to get little Carter to sit. So, I put him on the floor, told him to sit, and removed my hands.... And, he lasted for 45 seconds!!! I could not believe it. And he did it over and over again. What a smart boy.
Sorry the pictures are so bad. By the time I was able to get the camera, Carter was pretty tired of showing off his new trick. It was hard to focus before his head hit the ground.

Week in Review

Here is a run down of what happened this week:
- June 2nd: Kenai turned 2 years old!! We love you sweet girl!
- June 2nd was also Carter's last drop of breast milk. We made it 5 months on breast milk big boy, all of which were out of a bottle.
- I started packing our lives up in boxes for the big move out West.
- Carter and I went to the Amish store and bought them out of popcorn. The girl looked at me funny when I told her this was my Dad's favorite kind, and we were moving, so I needed all they had. I guess the Amish just aren't into popcorn like Dad.
- We lowered the price of our home, once again. Almost free today...
- We found out the date of Tim's orientation was changed and it now falls right in the middle of our trip to Coeur d'Alene. Punks!
- Michelle finally brought over the big guns when it comes to meat. It took 2 years, but we finally got the steaks out of her. And here she had us thinking she just had ground meat and chicken.
- Carter bit himself with his new tooth.
- And last but not least: Tim stayed at school all week to study for boards. Only 2 weeks left!!!!!

Elsie Elsie Elsie

Sweet Elsie came into town for a visit to good ol' Kirksville. She was such a great sport to go out to the state park with me and take some great pictures of Carter. Plus, she took some good ones of Carter and Me. I always enjoy visiting with Elsie. She is one of the strongest, most courageous women I know. We have missed having her here in Kirksville these past few months. Good luck with all your travels Elsie, we love you!!!

Tricks

I have officially taught Kenai a new trick. All I say is "Diaper" and she runs over to where the diapers are kept, grabs one, and then brings it right to my lap. It is so helpful when you have already sat down on the floor to change Carter and you realize that you don't have a diaper. Kenai is such a good big sister!!! It may be a little slobbery, but it is so worth it!!! Pictures of her doing this sweet task to come at a later date!
