Cleft Team

Carter had his first Cleft Palate Team appointment yesterday.  It was nice to have Tim with us for the day since we had to be in Detroit all day and we left out house at 5:00 AM.  Carter did so great seeing everyone, and was a trooper.  The first appointment was with the dentist, which Carter made very clear he was not looking forward to.  The dentist was very patient with Carter though, and finally did get to peak in his mouth.  After looking at him, the dentist asked Carter for a high five.  Carter just shook his head no.  I told Carter that if he gave the dentist a five, he would leave the room.  I have never seen Carter give such a hard high five after that!  He was excited to get out of there!
He then was seen by the plastic surgeon, ENT, social worker, speech therapy, and audiology.  He really liked hanging out with the speech therapist since she has some cool games.  She had a book that he would have to pick out the correct picture from 4 different pictures on the page.  So she would say "Point to the ..." and he would point to the correct one.  We were really impressed with how well he was doing.  But, it just kept going on and on.  Carter finally looked at therapist and said "I am tired of picking one out.  How about you choose one now!"  It was so stinking funny!  Love you little man!!!
Every time some one would leave the room he would said "I wonder who is coming to play with me next?"
So in the end, it was decided that Carter was doing excellent.  They really had no concerns, and felt he was growing well.  Speech is great, breathing is great, and he is just a normal 3 year old!  If you would have told me 2 years ago this is where we would, I would not have believed it!  So we are very thankful and blessed by his progress.
We told Carter that if he listened to the Doctors and let them look at him, then he could choose out a goodie at Costco on our way home.  So, we now have Mr. Frog in our family.  It is a cool chair that he sits in, sleeps with, and loves on.  There was no talking him into just a book!
We love you little Carter!  You are an amazing boy, and we are so blessed to call you our son!  XOXOXO
Just doing some shopping at Trader Joe's.

Exhausted, and Mr. Frog.

The water fountain snuck up on him at Costco and left a big knot on his head. :(

I am pretty sure he loved this guy so much because it matches his pillow pet.

Perfect for reading!

I would say he really deserved Mr. Frog! He looks so grown up in that striped shirt. I bet Heather recognizes that one. :) Good job Carter!
